Why should you have your soil tested? 

Soil testing:

  • takes the guesswork out of fertilizer recommendations;
  • makes good economic sense; and
  • ensures fertile soil without excess fertilizer application or pollution of the environment.

1. Gather tools for testing

6. Mix samples together
2. Scrape away  mulch

7. Bag sample
3. Dig 3-6 inches deep

8. Mail with 

payment to the

Univ. of Minn.

4. Collect sample
