Mahtomedi Garden Club
Growing a blooming community
Celebrating our 75th Anniversary!
The Lincolntown Garden Club held its first meeting on June 2, 1943 with 23 charter members. Meetings were held in members' homes so they could tour each other's gardens. Members were interested in learning about soil, landscaping, trees (mostly fruit) and soybeans. In lieu of dues, a collection was taken up at each meeting, resulting in a treasury balance of $3.73 after the first 6 months. Committees were formed, activities began, and the first plant sale was held in 1946 - resulting in a profit of $4.75. The club had grown to 38 members.
The Lincolntown Garden Club became the Mahtomedi Garden Club on November 25, 1952. Since then, many friendships have been formed as gardeners have gotten their hands dirty while learning about gardening and working on community beautification projects. We welcome you to join us at our meetings and even consider becoming a member.
